What is Gong Meditation & how can it benefit me?
YYG was formed by myself, Louise Day, an acupuncturist and my friend Monique Priest, a homeopath. Through our work over the last few years we have seen a huge rise in conditions brought on by stress and anxiety and we wanted to help people ‘switch off’ from their busy lives. Lives that are in fact a staggering 25% busier than they were just 2 years ago!
Meditation is regarded as a great healing tool for stress and anxiety but many find it challenging and an effort. Gong therapy makes meditation accessible as the vibrations and sounds shut off the mind chatter and have the power to take you into an automatic meditation. This is when healing can occur on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels.
A calm and peaceful mind is a very important factor in good health…
Gongs are among the oldest and most important musical instruments of South East Asia. Their origins may be traced back to the second millennium B.C. They have had a deep psychological meaning attributed to them and it is likely they were used for religious rituals and ceremonies and also as a bridge to ‘another world’ of spirits by an altering of consciousness.
In music, gongs with their indescribable sound ‘colours’ have always played a prominent role. Sound is potent, it can create a visceral reaction from us, it has the power to calm us, soothe us and lull us into altered states.
Moon Gong Baths
The time of the full moon is a powerful healing opportunity, an optimum time for meditating, recharging your energy field and clearing your chakras. This is why so many cultures have full moon rituals and ceremonies. Using the lunar energy of the full moon coupled with the vibrational sounds of the gong amplifies our healing potential.
Yin Yang Gong’s unique approach to gong baths is to create a multi-sensory experience, using touch, smell and sound. We do this through our use of aromatherapy oils, guided meditation, gongs and other instruments such as chimes and singing bowls.
What to Expect
At Yin Yang Gong we provide mats and bolsters, but just ask that you come with warm clothing (including socks) and blankets. All our venues are chosen carefully and are fully heated, but as you relax and are bathed by the gongs your core temperature can drop, therefore it is important to keep warm.
We hold a variety of Gong Meditations in the area but are also available for private or corporate functions on request.
